I think you are trying to use named-checkzone

Subject: invalid syntax...?

I am running named-checkconf on a zone file of mine and get a message
stating that $TTL is an unknown option...

Same applies for=20

iscdev.com.zone:3: unknown option 'serial'
iscdev.com.zone:4: unknown option 'refresh'
iscdev.com.zone:5: unknown option 'retry'
iscdev.com.zone:6: unknown option 'expire'
iscdev.com.zone:7: unknown option 'ttl'

if I remove the $TTL, then it says @ is an unknown option...

have I misunderstood the use of named-checkconf
