Newbie Question: Failed named.conf file edit?!

the keywords to use to search for the question :)  >

I am setting up a new website on my server.  I edited my named.conf
file ( and didn't stop the dns server when I saved the file. ) saved
the file, rebooted my server and the named.conf file won't load
properly.

I scoured the named.conf file to make sure there weren't any typos
etc...

I have no idea where to start to see why the named.conf file doesn't
load on boot.  I'm not sure that not stopping the server would have
helped... I was wondering if that could be the problem?

I would appreciate any help.
