I had this happen to me a couple years ago. Basically a downstream
Microsoft DNS box DoS'd my caching servers. It would rapid fire the
same DNS queries so quickly that I hit my recursive limit and the cache
servers went toasty. I blocked the downstream DNS server with my
firewall and contacted the admin. After a reboot, it quit doing
it....for awhile. Couple weeks later I got a call from the helpdesk
over the weekend and the same Mickeysoft server was doing it again but
was querying a different record. Went through the same thing- block at
the firewall, contact admin. Reboot stopped it again. After the third
time I told them that they had to either give me a real reason for the
problem or I would blacklist them. They built a new server and I didn't
see the problem again.
