unable to start named

Hi Guys

I installed the Linux system.

Downloaded the bind-9.4.1.tar.gz source from isc site

Copied to root dir

Did 
Tar
./configure
Make 
Make install

Deleted the previous bind rpm

Then I try to start the named service, but im unabke to start

Can I anybody tell what is the correct process to make bind-9.4.1 work

If somebody can send the exact process

Should I delete the previous package or not
