They realize what's going on - that aliens are studying them.  They also
start to figure out a way to escape - but then they realize that if they
do, the aliens will kidnap another group that might not be able to take
it.  So they stay, as sacrificial lambs.

That just happens to be one that I saw "recently" [for some value of...]
and remember.
