update policy question

Hi,

Wanted to know, how is the update-policy statement tested in BIND?
Is there any tool to test the different settings for the Update policy directives?

eg
zone "abc.com." IN {
 file "abc.com";
 type master;
 update-policy {grant * self * A;};
..
..
..
..
};

For above settings, for zone abc.com how are the updates sent from client?

Can anyone explain this?

Also for different setting of identity and record type how is it tested? Is there any specific tool being used for this?
