AFAICT it was a failed proposal by yahoo,
http://www.potaroo.net/ietf/idref/draft-delany-nullmx/
smtp105.sbc.mail.mud.yahoo.com mail is handled by 0 .

The A query might be an email-related tool doing a somewhat-naive
lookup.
