Statistics Dump - Bind9

I have two questions;
 

1)       Do the counters (A, NS, MX, etc...) between hourly collections
(mine rncd stats execute hourly) reflect the differences between the
collection period or is it the accumulative until the stats file is
cleared?

2)       If the stats in the file are accumulative how do I clear the
counter stats daily? (want to keep daily stats files for history
purpose)
