We've been working on the start-up time of BIND 9, when many many zones
are configured.

By many, I mean in the 10k to 1m range.

If you are someone who has a large number of zones loaded into BIND 9,
and would like to try out some test code to see if our work improves
your load time, please contact me.

This is another CPU time / memory trade-off, but we don't think the
overhead will be significant.

If you choose to test, we will want you to report your original and
hopefully-improved start-up time, original and new memory usage, and of
course any problems you encounter.

I have set the reply-to address for this mail to myself; if you want to
discuss this on the list, please do so but set it back to the list
address. Thanks!

Please include the following:

Number of zones loaded:

BIND 9 version in use:

Can you test with a different, developmental version?

Would you test in your lab or production?

If we got code to you this or next week, when could you complete your
measurements?
