This is a religious argument.  Please, leave it alone.

It's twelve years after RFC 2919 and people are still using mail
software that can't filter on List-ID?  Aw, come on.

In gmail, it takes about 15 seconds to add a rule to apply a label to
mail with a particular list-ID.
