Cricket's "DNS & BIND" seems rather dated at this point with the last edition over 8 years old.

Yeah, the "DNS and BIND"
"DNS and BIND cookbook"
"DNS and BIND on IPv6" O'Reily books are all still good and relevant...
As Andrew says, the included ARM is good, but the O'Reily ones above are more readable and cover more design type things (IMO)
