I don't see why that couldn't work, each zone is its own "thing" as far as 
BIND is concerned. For example, I do assume local authority over .lan in my 
internal networks, while offering recursion for everything else. Additionally, 
this is separated into 3 servers for the network I'm thinking of.. with 1 
master and 2 slaves. It's really just a matter of slicing. Your given server 
can certainly be a master for one slice, and a slave for another.
