FWIW, this is something I also observe on git.nixmagic.com. There are a bunch of abusive sign-
ups from a fairly consistent set of domains. Once I took out its whole database and essentially 
did a "slash and dash" on those domains, before putting it back in. I suspect that the most 
abuse comes from two individuals, that each have a very peculiar taste in domain names. And 
those people, if that is true, are people I absolutely despise. Because they created a whole 
incident that wasted a bunch of my time. But it is under control now, those accounts are never 
email verified and Gitea has an administrative task that just deletes all unverified accounts. 
Maybe GitLab has something similar, I don't know. But yeah, while using the mailing list for it is 
arguably not elegant, I can empathize with where it's coming from.
