them if that is the case. Also sometimes in hosting setups if you’ve paid someone else to do your web design and hosting they are the actual Registrant (owner of the domain from ICANN’s point of view) so you may have to verify who owns the domains first.
We’ve dealt with some of these hosting companies on acquisitions that took the position that they “owned” the domain and didn’t have to give it up – Sometimes it takes some legal work to get them to understand that registering a domain doesn’t make them “owner”
when it is a name they registered on behalf of a client so they were doing it only as an agent (IANAL).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
