Perhaps it's better than msgq?

Advantages:  It's a "enterprisy" thing.  It's well tested.  It does
nearly everything we have in msgq, and more.  It's a standard.

Disavantages:  Another package for end-users to install or us to deal
with.  People might want to use another implementation of this, which is
great -- except that it makes support harder.
