I'm not sure if I understand the question, but I don't see any problem
if the acceptable "instance"s for "zone" and those for "log" are
different, if that's your concern.

btw: I'm not sure if we need "instance=" in this syntax.

Also, I've not fully thought about the command line syntax.  My
comments are based on the assumption that we use something like this
(that is, we may want to discuss the general syntax in the first
place).
