[bind10-dev] Switching to GIT (and Trac integration)

We are migrating away from svn to use git. We will start using git for
our source repository on Wednesday, January 5, 2011.

I don't plan to offer a subversion gateway after that (since we are a
small project). (I have around ten jobs on around five servers that do
automated subversion checkouts/updates that I will convert to use git.
In addition, I need to setup the git hooks for emailing commit diffs.)

I will provide a short guide explaining common git uses for BIND 10
development and a few comparisons with svn commands. (Also I hope to
provide a few speed comparisons for checking out, updating, copying, and
merging branches.)

As for the Trac interface ... I am still testing the git integration. It
was suggested in our meeting that maybe we don't need to have Trac
integrated with a source revision control system. This means that the
source browser component wouldn't be included with Trac and the timeline
wouldn't show source code commits and wiki and tickets referencing code
revisions wouldn't be hyperlinks pointing to the code. I think the Trac
source code "diffs" have been useful. Anyone have comments on this?
