With the understanding that there's no perfect solution, this looks
awkward to me:

% ls jreed-layout/src/lib
Makefile.am	cc/ dns/ python/
auth/ config/ exceptions/	rbmsgq/

In that most (5/7) of the subdirectories are modules while "python" is
a language and rbmsgq is a mixture of language + module. (may we don't
have to care about rbmsgq though as it won't be included in the
release/trunk versions).

Was there a reason, e.g we don't have "cpp" in this level and move cc,
dns, etc under it?

Also, maybe you knew this but there are (effectively) empty "cpp"
directories under the module subdirectories.
e.g. jreed-layout/src/lib/cc/cpp.
