I am going to start doing autobuilds that actually use a 
tarball and run the tests from there too.

So we will need these added to EXTRA_DIST in the Makefile.am.

Or we need a way to automate this or make it easier.

(Jelte and I worked a few hours on this so the release could be used to 
run the existing tests.)
