My update:

- completed task #79 (name split extensions). It waits for review.
While doing this I've done some derivative (unplanned) tasks:
  - fixed a minor bug (trac #177, reviewed and committed to trunk)
  - proposed a changelog format with a sample entry.
- quickly looked at Jelte's series of messages about wiretable data
source, and made an initial comment on the first one
- just started task #92 (xfrin). performed coverage tests and figured
out the current test covered about 50% of the code. I've noticed we
should cover more corner cases in addition to enlarging the
code-wise coverage. now thinking about how to implement more
  detailed tests.

Plan:
- continue task #92. the original plan was this would be a 2-week
task, but I'm currently planning (or hoping) to complete it to some
extent by the end of next week.
