I believe the idea is to get everything through the SysInfo class (which your
patch breaks). And, about the unknowns, I already commented on them on the
ticket. The (short-term) plan is to introduce a shared base class for Unix
systems and use that one, so the generic code will be shared. But maybe even the
core base class could provide some information through libraries.
