Wiki pages tend to get outdated. IMHO the best way for such
developer-oriented documents is to keep them as close to the code as
possible.

Have you had a chance to look at Developer's Guide lately? (cd doc; make
devel)

The idea there is to have a developer's guide that explains major
concepts of the code. Classic Doxygen tags are good for explaining bits
and pieces, but we need a description of the big picture. My
understanding is that discussed images are fine example of such
category, they just need a little of text around them.
