I have one suggestion: maybe we should revert to the traditional
Fibonacci number (like) points: 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 (and in some rare
cases 21).  We've invented and used arbitrary points between them,
like 4 or 6, and I guess this might be one reason for our recent
underestimation.  So, for example, instead of giving something like
"6" for "something bit harder than normal", we give a point of 8 (or
we discuss whether it should rather be 5, but not make an easy
compromise by giving it an intermediate point).
