 For convenience of dvelopment we should:
  - allow individual b10-xxx programs in a stand alone mode
  - (to do this) add some kind of option to bypass the need for
 establishing a connection to msgq
  - (also to do this) if/when we develop a separate socket creator process,
 add some kind of option so that each b10-xxx program can directly open the
 necessary sockets (we should provide some abstraction to mimize the work
 at the client side and to avoid code duplication)

 A backlog item.
