Comment (by stephen):

 The changes were too focused on the log4cxx issues.  Updated the README
 file to correct typographical errors and to update the documentation to
 match the move to using "extern" variables as symbols.  Updated version is
 commit b23ef1cf58b0754e23e550362e7a979d5f8624ef.
