Comment:

 Branch trac1216 is ready for review.

 This should be very trivial.

 Although it changes a "semi public" API, I don't think we need to
 spam ChangeLog for this because we are still in the middle of
 the incomplete data source API refactoring and this is a very
 deep place of the API (normal applications won't directly use it).
