 We need to be careful about performance impact of this.

 getOrigin() will be less efficient in the revised in memory data
 source.  I'm afraid "identify zones" could also be slow with a naive
 implementation.  Even if per zone statistics may be disabled by
 default, we should minimize the performance impact as it will affect
 all queries when enabled.
