 Hello

 It is ready for review. It is based on #2377 (which got to review just
 now),
 which is based on two other branches, so maybe we'll need to wait for them
 to
 be merged first, but it should be mostly independent.

 It also contains some unrelated commits, but I was improving the docs that
 get out of doxygen (3c1bfee29255f423f4c17894e985d5e1f5d53071,
 d194e75bfce2855cdd24ab25057f06ae388153dc).

 I don't think it needs a changelog entry.
