 I believe I've addressed all points in the latest version.  It
 contains some non trivial changes, so I'll give the ticket back to
 you, wait for a while, and if you make an explicit okay or I don't
 hear anything for a while (e.g., by the biweekly call tomorrow), I'll
 merge the branch.
