 I'm not sure what the problem is now; does this branch not work? (it
 should catch everything in these two comments I believe)


 This branch tries pkg-config files 'botan-1.10, botan-1.9, botan-1.8' in
 that order, and if not found, tries the scripts 'botan-config-1.10, botan-
 config-1.9, botan-config-1.8, botan-config', so even if botan-config-1.8
 does not exist anywhere, it is just one check, and it will then use botan-
 config (and if THAT fails, you can now specify the config file by hand).
