   In general, if your branch introduces a new file, it often breaks
   distcheck in some way, so it's better to check it beforehand
   (distcheck is time consuming, so it's understandable if you're
   tempted to skip it for much trivial tasks, like fixing a bug within
   a single existing file.  But I personally try to run it when my
   branch introduces a new file).
