 I'm not sure if there's already a specific ticket on this or it
 duplicates with #1915, but I'm opening this ticket in the context of
 shmem datasrc work.

 We need to extend msgq as follows:
 - support the "list (group) sessions" command in msgq.  See
   doc/design/ipc-high.txt of trac2738 for the terminology.  This also
   means msgq now needs to be able to handle empty (no subscriber)
   groups as long as there's a user that needs updates to the group.
 - Notifications about group subscriptions (again see ipc-high.txt).
   This also means msgq now needs to auto-update the group membership
   if it finds a subscriber session is closed.
