 My confusion came from the fact that "default" implies I don't need to put
 in a value (even if I did put in the -a option).

 How about: "If the -a (or --address) option is not designated, the default
 value of 127.0.0.1 is used. If the option is designated, a specific value
 must be supplied."

 This is a very minor nitpick.
