Comment:

 I have taken care of all the issues mentioned in #2390 (comment 7), except
 one:

 > some of these older RDATA implementations largely miss tests. Depending
 on the amount of the work for the main subject of this ticket, it's a good
 idea to provide some missing test cases, especially for methods that
 aren't tested at all.

 This ticket is more than a 4-point ticket due to the number of tests that
 had to be adjusted. While I have added some tests, a comprehensive set of
 tests for rdata is better done in a separate ticket.

 I'm putting this ticket up for review now.
