Comment (by muks):

 One bit that is not tested is sending notification back to the main thread
 via the `socketpair()`. I think it's best handled in #2856 when we decide
 on some fixed format for the content of the response queue. On the other
 hand, the `watch_fileno()` notifications are themselves tested.
