>> Jinmei: botan, as packaged by Debian and Ubuntu, had dependencies on libbz2-dev, libgmp3-dev, libssl-dev, zlib1g-dev, and hardening-wrapper. It also has a dependency on python, although that is installed by default on Ubuntu. Some or all of these dependencies may go away if botan is configured without the parameters ' --with-bzip2 --with-gnump --with-openssl --with-zlib'. Are these parameters to botan configure required for botan to function with bind10? The bind10 guide doesn't discuss this issue, other than to state that installing Botan 1.8 or greater is a prerequisite to bind10.

Based on some further testing, bind10 appears to work with none of these parameters in the botan configuration. The packages libssl-dev are zlib1g-dev are required anyway to build Python 3 with support for the hashlib and ssl modules needed by bind10.
