ISC DHCP 3.0.4rc1 is now available. This Release Candidate has had only
cosmetic (manual page) changes since the most recent BETA. The 3.0.4
release engineering has corrected several bugs present in versions 3.0.3
and prior, and has added no new features.
Note that significant changes were made in this 3.0.4 release engineering
to the failover protocol, and you should read the RELNOTES carefully in
regards to the new 'atsfp' values placed upon leases and what they mean
to you.
For a complete list of changes from any previous release, please
consult the RELNOTES file within the source distribution, or on our
website:
http://www.isc.org/sw/dhcp/dhcp_dev.php
Also, we're making some changes to our release signing policy this year,
and this is the first release we're trying our new gear on. Primarily,
we've been told from several sources that sha1, which we've been using
up until now in release signatures, is quickly approaching its end of
life. Since we don't know how compatible sha256 and sha512 are with our
userbase, we're going to distribute signatures in all three formats, and
we'd like your feedback so we can make better choices on how to proceed.
But we've also generated a new OpenPGP key to reflect the best security
for production software release signing we've been advised to use.
Please fetch the new key from the URL below, and try each signature in
the order they are listed, until one is compatible. Send a note to
dhcp-users at isc.org in reply to this mail to advise us of which ones work
and don't work.
If the majority of our userbase lie either in the sha512 or sha1 areas,
but none inbetween, we will produce only those signatures in the future.
If no one needs the sha1 signature, that's yet one less thing to have to
do for release engineering.
We want to hear about your experiences with this, positive and negative.
This release, and its OpenPGP-signatures are available now from:

- Some manual pages were clarified pursuant to discussion on the dhcp-server
mailing list.
