You call also have text/plain with an "attach" "disposition".

You just need a more able MUA.  J/K of course, let's not start that
flamewar.  :-)  I guess the only thing nice I like about having attachments
"attached" (as text/plain) rather than "inlined", is that it makes "saving
to file" easier.  When they are "inlined", I have to cut'n'paste, when they
are attached, I can "save as".  Maybe I need the more able MUA.  ~grin~

The diffs I send Ted, are they a PIA for you, or do they play nice with
your MUA?
