mname over-ride

I'd like to make a change to the DDNS update processing on the DHCP server.
I don't expect it to go main-stream, but I'm not sure which variable needs
to be overridden. Instead of using the address of the mname server, I'd
like to be able to specify a secondary servers address that is authoritative
and has the "allow-update-forwarding" parameter configured.

I know you're wondering why the heck would I want to do that? About a month
ago, we suffered a major outage because the mname server for a particular
zone wasn't responding quickly, and we spiraled into a state where the DHCP
servers couldn't service our users. If we allow other slave servers to
forward the updates hopefully, we won't take down the entire company.
Currently we have 11 DHCP servers and 17 DNS servers, and one point of
failure, the mname server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill
