Not really sure, never paid that close attention, but it is possible. We're
also using QIP for DNS management, and have had to duct tape some work
arounds to issues we have with it. They promise to have better integration
(fixes) later this month with their 6.1 release.

by any chance might the ddns problems be leases freed from the secondary
that aren't being removed from dns?
