Change timeout value in DHCP client

Hi all,
I have used dchp for allocating ip addresses for systems in my subnet as an add on to my project.
For the project I do, I must change the timeout value. That is, sometimes I dont want my dhcp clients to timeout and loose their IP. Specifically, a couple of dhcp servers run, and I dont want some systems which have got an IP from one server loose the original and get another from a new one though the former is directly unreachable.
Similarly, I want to do at the server.
Can anyone help me get around this?
Thanks a lot.
regards,
dileep
