dhclient ifconfig down up?

the ifconfig down;ifconfig up just does not work with wireless or some
gig switches.
I'd like to see a better solution then the one I suggested but I
haven't seen anyone else even purpose a solution.

Maybe there is a way to do it without a media disconnect and reconnect?
