JSON/HTTP REST

I've been looking at the OMAPI object interface and noticed the similarity to a more popular object interface now in use (JSON over HTTP in a RESTful way). Would ISC DHCP developers be receptive to accepting patches for a JSON interface to augment the current OMAPI object interface?
Security could be provided by a client certificate over TLS to ensure only authorized clients can connect.
I'm not opposed to OMAPI but there are tons of tools that already do JSON and it would make a web interface to the DHCP server a simple task.
I would be interested in tackling this but if there's resistance, I won't bother.
Thanks,
Tom
