Not configured to listen on any interfaces! and No subnet declaration for start

If you built the package yourself I assume that doesn't install the 
distribution specific bits like startup scripts. In that case, all 
you need to start the server is "dhcpd", or "dhcpd <iface> <iface> 
..." if you need to listen only on specific interfaces.
