i'm basically of no help.  interface detection is going wrong somehow,
so if you can think of any reason why that would be different in the
different netbsd versions that might give a hint.

if you might not have had a completely clean build on the new
system, a pre-compiled libdhcp from the older netbsd could have
problems with kernel interfaces on the new netbsd system...
