I certainly agree with this.   And that's why I think you need to just  
make a solution that uses the DUID as an identifier for IPv6, and gets  
the Mac address from the ND table.   This should work completely in  
line with the DHCPv4 solution, since you're now acquiring the Mac  
address that's actually in use, and not depending on the DUID to get  
the Mac address.

No need to tell me that this is more work than it was with DHCPv4 - I  
get that.   :'}
