you've built from source - check where the default locations are
(suspect /usr/local/etc/ and /usr/local/var  etc etc)

if you want RedHat niceness then use a redhat RPM (if such
an RPM is supplied) - projects rarely cater for specific Linux
distros out of tarballs - thats what distro package maintainers do.
