upgrade 3.0.5 -> 4.1.1 due to lease imbalance

Guten Tag!

I`m running V3.0.5-RedHat with failover and sometimes get alot if "lease imbalance" messages with dhcpd crash on primary. So problem was googled, and strongly recommended no upgrade dhcpd until 4.0.0+: https://lists.isc.org/pipermail/dhcp-users/2009-December/010526.html

comments: "a lot of bugfixes in the last 3 years since that release"
"say upgrading to v3.1.3"
"In later versions (3.1.0 onwards) there are a few commands to vary the algorithm"
"The dhcpd.conf and dhcpd.leases files are compatible"
"3.0.5 also predates POOLREQ storm bugfixes if I remember right"
"Running various versions of 4.1.x in a failover pair, we've never really had lease database inconsistencies"
"This is basically a known missing feature..."

I`m going upgrade dhcpd to dhcp-4.1.1-22.P1.fc13.x86_64 and 2 stupid questions (sorry):

1. Are dhcpd.conf and dhcpd.leases files compatible yet? (3.0.5 -> 4.1.1)
2. Can I run failover with 4.1.1 on primary and 3.0.5 on secondary for 5-10 hours to prevent network outages? (70 000 - 90 000 leases)

Thanks,

lastsky
