That is the answer to a different question than the one that was 
asked. What are your zone statements ? What is the IP address of the 
DNS server ?

Does your DNS server log anything ? If so, what ?
If you use a packet sniffer (tcpdump, ethereal, ...), do you see any 
DNS traffic between the two servers ?

Alternatively, it's possible to run without zone entries in your DHCP 
config if your DNS and SOA records are all correctly set up - the 
DCHP server can use the SOA record to work out where to send updates 
automagically.
