There is actually a vendor-dependent way to do this using DHCP option 82. The problem is, that Option 82 spec for circuitID is left up to the vendor to define. Some vendors (e.g. Dell/Forec10) include the vlan information in the circuited (vlan:blade:port), others (e.g. HP) just include the port.

We use this to assign per vlan IPs using Option82 to clients, but not with ISC DHCP at this time. With patches, this is possible with isc-dhcp as well.

Understood the main - the is no such feature in dhcp v4 specs.
I thought that the problem is quite common.
